To Tokyo! Hakone Ekiden?!?
Cycled into Tokyo today... Last leg! Successed! Total distance 37.29km!
My "room" for the previous night...
Breakfast... Carbo loading...
Somehow... The route I was cycling on is the same as the route of the Hakone-Ekiden... The Hakone-Ekiden is the biggest University sporting event of Japan! So 1 whole lane was closed... And I cycled on the closed lane...
People many many... Pretend they are cheering for me... =X
Eventually the runners caught up with me... Huh? So I stopped and joined the crowd to cheer them on!
Tokyo proper!

Yokohama... Easy...
The ride to Yokohama was easy... After Hakone Pass... Everything is easy... 43km in total... Rode really slowly... Reached hotel at 3pm... Only to be told it only opens at 4pm! =/
Breakfast at Isehara Green Palace Hotel...
Natto... Comes free with breakfast... Tried it... Don't like it... Luckily I don't need to pay for it...
My trusty bicycle... Punctured rear tire still unrepaired... Holding up fine... Lol...
Since the hotel was still closed... Went for lunch... Some sorta Sashimi-don... Pretty good... The wasabi in Japan is much more potent compared to what we have in Singapore... Seriously! Comes with a slice of cheesecake... 630yen...
Went up the Landmark Tower... Tallest building in Japan! Fastest elevator in the World! 750m/min! My ears got blocked coming down...
View of Yokohama to Tokyo skyline at night...
Yokohama bay... Plus Cosmo Clock 21! That's the ferris wheel... Functions as a clock most of the time... And dubbed itself the World's biggest clock!
Like the Umeda Floating Garden... The Landmark Tower is also quite a 'love love!' place... But at least it is not overwhelming...
Subway in Japan with women only carriage! Gropers! Go away!
Napolitan... Said to originate from Yokohama... At least Kuitan (Jdrama!) said so.... Had a hard time finding it... High-class restaurant do not carry this dish... Had to get it from a quick eatery in central Yokohama... 630yen... But the taste is worth it! Seriously...
Will be making my way into Tokyo proper tml... Short ride... 20 to 30km only... Last leg of my ride... After that it's 2 days of Tokyo touring! Subway all the way!
Isehara... Isehara... Isehara... Isehara... Isehara...
I conquered the Hakone pass! Or at least I managed to push my bike over the Hakone pass... Ok la... 40% push... This hill was worst then Aoyama... It was steep... It was long (15km straight uphill!)... And I lost my cleat so I can't utilise my pedals!!! Total distances rode 106km... Set off at 0900hrs... Reached hotel at 1915! When I reached the hotel... I wanted to hug all the staffs and cry...
This point marked the start of the uphills into Hakone, pass the Hakone pass and into Odawara... From where I detoured to Hadano and into Isehara...
Bamboo forest in the hills of Hakone...
Lake Ashi... Why is there a lake in the middle of the hill? It's a pretty sight...
Highest point of National route 1... I climbed upto 874m? After this signboard was a long and winding downhill to Odawara... This downhill was done at an average of 25km/hr... Because there was traffic jam?!? And the curves are... Curvy... Safe... Not dead...
Do not trust my camera's time stamp! This signboard brought tears to my eyes... I are wet with sweat... My toes are frozen... I just want to lay down and sleep... From Hadano onwards... I actually kept myself going with chants of "Isehara! Isehara! Isehara!"... I can only blame myself for booking a hotel in Isehara... Which is in the middle of Kanagawa Prefecture... Odawara is at the side... My next distinction Yokohama is at the side... But I have to go book a hotel in the middle of Kanagawa! Oh yeah...
New Year in Fuji!
Went to the Bishamonten Temple at the edge of Fuji city at midnight... Reached there too early... It was quite empty when I reached the place... But there were security guard everywhere... Sign of things to come...
The torii of Bishamonten...
New Year stores... Small town... Small temple... Very little stores...
Fuji...
Total distanced rode to Fuji and in Fuji 61.9km... This includes a trip to the temple at midnight...
My breakfast in Shizuoka Victoria Hotel... They don't serve breakfast... So I made do with vending machine fare... Later had a real breakfast of oden at 7-11... The CalorieMate Block tastes real good!
Shortest tunnel I crossed... I think got 10m...
Fuji city! See Mount Fuji in the background?
Met another tourist on the way to hotel... He was going in the opposite direction... Our conversation ended at 'hello!' then we just sat by each other and had coffee before parting...
The Road so Far... Fuji - Isehara - Yokohama!
Have not been updating the blog because I can't get internet... But today's hotel got connection! So here I am... Abusing the net... Will review the ride from Shizuoka to Fuji... Fuji to Isehara and Isehara to Yokohama!
